Microblading

Conveniently located to serve Albany, Schenectady, Latham, & Troy.

Microblading

Eyebrow microblading is categorized under permanent makeup. However, unlike other cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and produces results that are actually semi-permanent. People typically visit us for microblading because they are unhappy with their thin or sparse eyebrows. Microblading can be a long-lasting way for them to attain fuller yet natural-looking eyebrows. Here at Spa One, we provide quality microblading in Albany to cater to the aesthetic demands of our clients by producing natural-looking results.

Your Microblading Treatment Session

We start by sketching out the new brow shape based on your facial anatomy and desired brow shape-this portion of the appointment takes the longest. Then we use a hand tool with ultra-fine needles to gently draw each “hair” into the skin. It can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost or dwindling brows. The pigment used is chosen to match the natural or desired brow color.

Microblading FAQS

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICROBLADING?

Microblading can help make your eyebrows fuller, thicker, and more natural-looking. You can free yourself from the worries of smudges or pigment sliding down your face while doing various physical activities like swimming, taking showers, running, or working out. Microblading reduces the time required for your makeup routine. It also saves money by eliminating the need to constantly purchase new eyebrow filling products.

HOW MUCH DOES MICROBLADING COST?

Microblading prices start at $600 and vary between individuals. This price includes your first and second sessions.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICROBLADING?

Patients who have patchy, thin, or uneven brows are good candidates for microblading. It is a great alternative for patients who have a busy lifestyle and do not have much time for a beauty routine. Patients who are allergic to makeup products in the brow area can also benefit from this procedure.

Some skin types retain ink better than others. Very oily skin types are the most difficult to work with and sometimes reject the pigment. When you come in for a consultation we will evaluate your skin and determine if this treatment is right for you.

WHO SHOULD AVOID MICROBLADING?

Microblading is not recommended for patients with sensitive and hyperreactive skin, since the treatment can cause minor inflammation, which can exacerbate skin conditions. Other skin conditions that may prevent patients from being qualified for this treatment are keratosis pilaris on the forehead and cystic acne or breakouts around the brows.

Microblading is not the right aesthetic treatment for anyone who:

  • Is pregnant
  • Is undergoing chemotherapy
  • Has serious heart problems or a pacemaker
  • Has undergone an organ transplant recently
  • Has a disease or viral infection
  • Is allergic to the materials used in microblading
  • Has a high risk of developing keloids
  • Uses Accutane
  • Is taking antibiotics or blood-thinning medications
  • Has large pores
  • Has oily skin
  • Is below 18 years old
WHAT DOES MICROBLADING FEEL LIKE?

Microblading is typically not painful because numbing cream is applied to the area before the treatment. You will experience a soft scratching sensation as the blade is passed over the skin.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MICROBLADING DONE?

Most microblading sessions take about 2 hours to perform.

ARE THERE ANY MICROBLADING POST-TREATMENT CARE INSTRUCTIONS?

We provide very detailed instructions for your aftercare. Here are a few of the more important items:

  • For the first six (6) weeks, apply your mandatory Definition Brows Protective Balm as needed to keep the treatment area moist at all times.
  • Do not get the eyebrows wet or take hot showers for 7-10 days or during the healing process. (No saunas, steam rooms, etc.) Scabbing must fall off naturally before you can get the area wet.
  • If your eyebrows get wet during this time, pat them dry with a towel (do not rub).

It is normal for the brow area to be slightly red or scabby. Do not pick at your skin – this will cause further irritation.

HOW MANY MICROBLADING SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

The average patient needs 2 microblading sessions. The bulk of the work is done in the first session. The second session is scheduled 4 weeks later to touch up any areas that need to be further filled in.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MICROBLADING TO HEAL?

Because your brow area may be red, try not to schedule important events like interviews or engagement photos for the first week or 2. Additionally, avoid going to the gym for the first several days. Excess sweating around the brows can prevent pigment retention or cause infection.

WHEN WILL I SEE MY MICROBLADING RESULTS?
  • Days 1-3: Your eyebrows will be their darkest.
  • Days 4-5: The small scabs begin to fall off.
  • Day 7: You will begin to see your results.

Your final results will be significantly lighter than day 1, so don’t worry if you think your brows are too dark initially.

HOW LONG DO MICROBLADING RESULTS LAST?

Results are semi-permanent, lasting anywhere from 1 to 2 years.
