Answers to Your Questions
How does it work?
Our microneedling system is an automated, state-of-the-art medical device that has tiny "microneedles" on its tip that gently create fine pinpricks in the top layer of the skin. The skin responds by regenerating damaged cells and increasing production of collagen and elastin to naturally repair itself. The depth of the needle penetration may be adjusted to the condition and thickness of the skin you want to target.
What are the benefits of microneedling?
Microneedling addresses many common concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture. These versatile treatments benefit the skin in a variety of ways such as:
- Improving elasticity
- Increasing firmness
- Softening fine lines and wrinkles
- Repairing acne scars
- Minimizing pore size
- Reducing excess pigmentation
Where can it be used?
Because the needle depth is adjustable, we can perform microneedling treatments on most areas of exposed skin, including:
- Face, even the delicate skin under the eyes and around the lips
If you are interested in more noticeable improvements, you might consider ProFractional™ laser treatments.
What can I expect during the treatment?
First a topical numbing cream is applied to the skin and left in place for about 30 minutes. Next the skin is cleansed and dried. The esthetician then slowly moves the handpiece across the skin as the microneedles rapidly push into the skin and retract. After targeted areas are evenly treated, a topical skin care product may be applied. The microneedling process helps beneficial skin care products absorb better.
How long does it take?
A microneedling treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes to perform on one area, such as the face. Treatment time will increase with multiple areas or if combined with other treatments.
Is there any downtime?
These gentle treatments typically do not require downtime. It is normal for treated areas to look mildly sunburned for a few days after treatment. Good sun protection is important during this time — and at all times — but there are no activity restrictions.
How many treatments will I need?
While occasionally patients will attain the improvements they want from a single treatment, most need a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced 4 to 5 weeks apart. Your esthetician will recommend a maintenance schedule that is personalized to you unique needs.
